Christopher Currier, Host and Creator
I’m a professional voice actor and lover of all things pop music. I really have two people to thank for my obsession with countdown shows and pop music – – and those people are Casey Kasem and my Uncle Jim. When I was little I would listen to (and tape – – yes, actual cassette tapes) Casey’s American Top 40. I loved everything about Casey Kasem. His voice. His energy. His corny jokes. He was radio and popular music to me. And still is. If I can be 1/10th as good as Casey, I’ll consider myself a success. And Uncle Jim – he may not have realized it but he started my obsession with pop music with that first Debbie Gibson video he showed me. It was “Out of the Blue” and he had recorded it from (I think) Friday Night Videos (btw, if anyone ever wants to bring back “Friday Night Videos”, I hereby volunteer to host). I was officially in love with pop music and Debbie Gibson. I had the unique privilege to “work” for Debbie as a volunteer several years later around the time that she was on tour with NSYNC.
After a brief stint working for public radio (WSHU in 1996/1997), I contemplated a career in radio but, instead, moved on to music school, floundered and eventually found a way to make money in the music industry (my full time gig, which I still love) and started to pursue my true passions – voiceover and this podcast.
Home is in Connecticut with my beautiful wife and our two kids. And a special thank you to everyone who has believed in this dream with me! I wouldn’t be here without you! You know who you are!
